I’m getting a Kindle this evening which as you might be able to tell by my enormous collection of books, was not an easy decision.
As much as I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of having all my books with me all the time, I’d never considered getting a Kindle because I just love actual books so so much. I love how they feel and how they smell.
But my issue is that I’m an extremely fast reader. When I’m on holiday I get through a book a day. But luggage allowance doesn’t give me the opportunity to take 14 books on holiday with me, so I always end up with nothing left to read after a week. And if I’m only going for a week then the luggage allowance is less and I can’t even take 7 books.
I travel quite a lot, often involving long haul flights, and I’m hoping to even more in the future, and so for me a Kindle makes sense. I’m not throwing any of my books away though. Some of them were my mum’s when she was little.
Even though I’m excited about getting a new gadget later I am also pretty sad because I feel like I’m betraying my 300 or so books ):

If I download a book for my Kindle and I end up absolutely loving it, I go out and by the proper book with it. I still do it with C.Ds as well because if I think something is incredible I want the material possession rather than a file!
